Biography
Born in Greece, Dimitris Paksoglou first embarked on a career as an actor and studied at the National Superior School of Drama. As an actor he went on to appear in important Greek theatres before deciding to make a career change and studied singing at the Athens National Conservatory under Kostas Paskalis and Marina Krilovici, graduating with distinction. He moved to France where he appeared with several opera companies and his success led Greek National Opera to offer him a contract as a principal tenor. Recent roles include Cavaradossi Tosca for Malmö Opera, the title role of Otello for the Croatian National Opera in Rijeka, and the Cultural Centre of Crete in Heraklion. He appeared in the title role of Don Carlo in Maribor and was Manrico Il Trovatore and Cavaradossi Tosca for Estonian National Opera. He returned to Malmö Opera for Roberto Miranda in Jonas Forssell’s Death and the Maiden. Future plans include Tristan Tristan und Isolde for Norrlands Operan and Calaf Turandot for the Royal Swedish Opera.
